To connect medical expertise, collaborate & treat patients.

From September 28 to October 3, 2026, ReSurge International, in collaboration with Hue International General Hospital and Hue Odonto-Stomatology Hospital, will organize the "2026 Plastic and Microsurgery Week" under the direction of the Hue City Department of Health.

This is a free surgical program for patients with special needs, bringing together experts in plastic, reconstructive, and microsurgery from the United States and Canada alongside a team of domestic and international doctors, nurses, and medical staff. Through consultations, surgeries, training, and professional exchange, the program aims to expand patient access to advanced treatments while fostering international cooperation and developing local medical capabilities.

International Cooperation – Connecting Knowledge, Sharing Techniques, and Fostering Professional Development

The “2026 Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Week” features the participation of over 35 experts from the global organization ReSurge International, alongside physicians from Hue, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City. Notably, the event includes Dr. Le Thua Trung Hau - a plastic surgeon and active member of ReSurge in Vietnam who currently practices at Hue International General Hospital.

Dr. Le Thua Trung Hau is an expert in plastic and aesthetic surgery with over 30 years of experience, having undergone advanced training in countries such as France, Belgium, and the United States. He has been a steadfast figure in connecting international expert teams with Vietnam to perform high-tech procedures, train young doctors, and—above all—assist individuals facing particularly difficult circumstances. Through his more than ten-year partnership with the global organization ReSurge International, Dr. Hau has helped bring joy not only to people in Vietnam but also to those in need across other countries.

As part of the program, participating experts conduct examinations, hold consultations, perform surgeries, provide instruction, and exchange professional expertise. Activities focus on plastic, reconstructive, and microsurgery, including techniques for breast reconstruction following breast cancer treatment.

Established in 1969, ReSurge International is an organization dedicated to humanitarian plastic and aesthetic surgery. The organization began volunteer operations in Vietnam in 1990 and launched free plastic surgery programs in the Hue region in 2015. Over the years, this collaboration has expanded beyond humanitarian surgery to include continuing education, technology transfer, postoperative care training, and the provision of specialized medical equipment and instruments.

Through these collaborative efforts, Hue has gradually become a hub for professional connection, offering domestic and international doctors opportunities to learn together, exchange expertise, and gain access to advanced reconstructive and plastic surgery techniques.

By means of these collaborative programs, Hue International General Hospital aims to foster a medical environment characterized by continuous interaction, learning, and knowledge sharing among domestic and international experts, thereby helping to bring the benefits of modern medicine closer to patients in the Central region.

Hue International General Hospital and its modern medical capabilities: A foundation for meeting professional standards

As the host of the 2026 Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Week, Hue International General Hospital is coordinating and executing surgical activities, thereby demonstrating its organizational capacity and ability to meet professional requirements within international medical collaboration programs.

Dr. Pham Hong Ha, Director of Hue International General Hospital, stated: “Through this partnership, Hue International General Hospital aspires to go beyond simply supporting individuals in special circumstances; above all, we aim to foster an environment for honing surgical skills to international standards—grounded in a spirit of community service through expertise—and, most importantly, to enable the Vietnamese people to access advanced medical techniques right here at home.”

Humanistic Value – When Medicine Opens the Door to a More Fulfilling Life

For many patients following breast cancer treatment, the recovery journey extends beyond merely controlling the disease. Physical changes can have a lasting impact on mental well-being, self-confidence, and overall quality of life.

Reconstructive surgery aims to restore physical form while helping patients regain their confidence and gradually return to their daily lives.

This year’s program prioritizes cases such as breast reconstruction following cancer treatment, nipple reconstruction, lymphedema treatment, balancing of the unaffected breast, and other appropriate indications.

It is expected that approximately 30 patients meeting the program's professional criteria and eligibility requirements will be considered for financial assistance with their surgery costs.

For Hue International General Hospital, the value of the program lies not only in the number of surgeries performed but also in standing by patients during a crucial stage of their recovery journey.

The message—"For a chance to live more confidently – For changes that begin with a single surgery"—embodies the program's humanistic spirit: healthcare is not merely about treating medical conditions but also about caring for patients' mental well-being, self-confidence, and quality of life.

This is also the direction Hue International General Hospital pursues in its journey to build the image of a "Happy Hospital"—a place where every professional activity aims to foster peace of mind, enhance the patient experience, and deliver tangible value to patients and the community.

In the long term, the Hospital aims to integrate professional expertise, modern facilities, international partnerships, and a spirit of humanism, thereby contributing to a high-quality, patient-centered healthcare environment.
